Hot stone massage therapy is in which therapists use smooth, heated stones. Usually they use basalt, a black volcanic rock that soaks and holds heat well. This massage provides a deep soothing effect and also helps in relaxation. The heat that is used in this massage helps in releasing tight muscles.

In this massage they apply basalt stones of different sizes which are heated in water. They place the stones on the different key points of the body. They give a deep massage which creates a sensation of warmth and comfort. The direct heat of the stones on the body helps in relaxation of the muscles.
