Pedicure improves the appearance of the feet and their nails. The word ‘pedicure’ is derived from the Latin words ‘pes’, which means ‘foot’, and ‘cura’, which means ‘care’. Pedicure helps in taking care of the feet and the toe nails. It is helpful because it prevents nail diseases and nail disorders.

Pedicure is not just limited to nails; the dead skin of feet is rubbed off with the help of a rough stone called ‘pumice stone’. Pumice stone is a light glass formed on the surface of some lavas. It is used as a scrub.

Foot reflexology is used very often while giving the foot massage. Reflexology is the application of pressure, stretch and movement to the feet and hands to effect corresponding parts of the body. It soothes many nerves that end in the feet. Sometimes practitioners massage with hot stones in their hands. They use special creams that have menthol which help in rejuvenating the feet.

Pedicure has so many benefits. It helps in keeping the feet in good condition and it makes the skin soft. It improves blood circulation in the feet and it nourishes the skin, the leg and the foot muscles. It helps in fighting against foot diseases.
