Aromatherapy is one of the oldest methods of holistic healing, prepared to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit with the use of scent or aroma. In this therapy therapists use liquid plant materials known as essential oils, to instill a state of well-being. The healing power of the essential oils is the real meaning of aromatherapy.
The basic principle of Aromatherapy is to reinforce the self-healing processes. The depth of use of necessary oils is quite wide. It ranges from deep and penetrating beneficial uses to the extreme subtlety of a unique fragrance.
Aromatherapy is considered to be an ancient yet timely and new approach to total well being which is in tune with nature. Aroma therapists artfully blend essential oils to produce new aromas.
Types of aromatherapy
Cosmetic Aromatherapy
In cosmetic aromatherapy, therapists use essential oils in facial, skin, body and hair care products. An aromatherapy facial shows the versatility of essential oils in promoting healthy skin. A full-body or foot bath is a simple way to experience cosmetic aromatherapy on a personal level. A few drops of the appropriate oil in warm water for bathing will generate a rejuvenating and revitalizing experience.
Massage Aromatherapy
Essential oils increase the healing touch of massage therapy with great aromas. Add a few drops of oil to a small amount of pure vegetable carrier oil, such as almond, grape seed or jojoba, and apply liberally during massage.
Olfactory Aromatherapy
In olfactory aromatherapy the benefits are experienced when essential oils are inhaled. Direct inhalation or diffusion will enhance emotional wellness, calm, relax or rejuvenate. Pleasant scents release odor memories, trigger our emotions and release stress. Important oils bring the body back into harmony with itself by encouraging the natural forces within to realign. It is complement and not a replacement for medical treatment.
