A typical breema bodywork session requires the individual to practice a series of comfortable yet strategically ordered movements. The individual is required to perform these movements on the floor either on which a mat or cushions are placed.
For this massage the individual doesn’t have to strip but can remain fully clothed during the session. The moves are specially designed to stretch out the muscles of the body. The main concept of this massage is harmony. This therapy aims to bring about harmony in the body.
The exercises of Breema are guided by the nine principles of harmony:
- Body Comfortable – This massage therapy views the body as whole and not just parts It aims at bringing about comfort to the entire body and not just specific body parts. Body comfort is an essential principle of Breema.
- Expressiveness – The goal of the therapy is to help the individual express their true nature. It helps the individual identify and discover his inner being.
- Firmness and Gentleness – The key to the technique is that the pressure applied to the body needs to be gentle and firm simultaneously. This helps the muscles stretch out.
- Full Participation – In order for the technique to be effective, full participation of the patient is required. This includes involvement of the mind, body and feelings.
- Mutual Trust and Support – It is very essential that the individual build a bond of trust with the therapist. The giving and receiving of support during therapy must take place simultaneously.
- No Judgment – Breema bodywork is nonjudgmental, the individual is not criticized nor condemned. There is a atmosphere of appreciation which allows the individual to feel comfortable and accepted.
- No Hurry/No Pause – The key to the therapy is a natural rhythm of movements where the therapist does not rush through any of them, nor does he or she pause between movements. There is a wonderful symphony of movements.
- No Force – The activities don’t involve any kind of force. The individual is not forced neither pushed into any activity, which he/she doesn’t like.
- Single Moment/Single Activity :Each moment is new, fresh, and totally alive. Each moment, when it’s an expression of our true nature, is complete by itself.
Through therapy sessions, the patient can expect benefits including mental clarity, relaxation of the body and mind, and a balance in emotions and energy. Breema bodywork is a effective therapy for those who want to balance mind and body. It is a therapy, which brings about holistic nurturance of both body and soul.
