Thai massage, known as Nuat Phaen Boran in Thailand involves the therapist using his knees, hands, knees and legs to make the patient do stretches and to apply gentle pressure on specific parts of the patient’s body. The techniques include acupressure, joint mobilization and muscle compression.
Thai massage is a little more rigorous and energizing than other traditional forms of massage. Typically, a Thai massage is around one to two hours long. Since the massage involves no oil application, you shall be fully clothed. Thai massage is usually performed on a padded mat spread on the floor.
To apply some movements, the feet and legs of the therapist is used to fixate the limbs or body of the recipient. The difference between shiatsu and Thai massage is that Shiatsu works on the meridian points by making use of acupressure while Thai more often makes use of Yoga poses.
