However, here we teach how to give a massage for everyday needs like stress and pain relief.
First of all… set the environment
The environment in which you are going to give a massage should be relaxing, not just the massage. Here we give you some tips on how to create a soothing environment.
- Make sure there are no children or pets to interrupt you… just you and your partner.
- The room should be at a comfortable temperature.
- The lights should be dim, and no strain to your eyes.
- Shut the drapes to avoid any distractions.
- Don’t forget to play soothing tunes, to complement your massage. We suggest instrumental compositions.
Things you need
- Your partner has to lie down on a hard surface, to get adequate support for all the muscles. You can use a firm mattress or a futon.
- Keep enough space for you to circulate and work conveniently.
- Use towels to cover the parts that should not be exposed. And, also cover the parts that are massaged, so that the heat generated won’t escape.
- Use a folded towel or a small pillow to support the head.
- Massage oils are a must for a healthy massage, and in fact there are many massage oils for different purposes and use the one that is needed at the time.
How to massage – here are the steps
- Ask your partner lie front-side-down on a steady surface. Let your partner be in a comfortable position for a more enjoyable experience.
- You need to focus on the main ‘stress spots’ like the head, neck, shoulders and back. In fact, these body parts carry a lot of tension.
- Stand beside your partner. Start by massaging bilateral sides of the head using your hands in a circular motion. Apply little pressure all around the head and behind the ears.
- Run your hands down to your partner’s neck. Using your fingers perform an oval-shape motion around the sides of the neck. Mainly focus on the base of the skull because it is the center of nerves that relate to headaches. So, massaging it relives your partner from headaches.
- Slide your hands down to your partner’s shoulders. Massage the shoulders with a bread-kneading motion.
- Now, come down to the back region. Start applying pressure in a circular motion on the lower back. Then, move on to the area around the shoulder blades.
- Repeat this massage on areas that are tensed.
